6 Sure signs of the first day of Spring...

(1) Free Rita's Water Ice!

(2) Crab Cake Sandwiches!

(3) Bar-B- Q!

(4) Driving with the top down!

and- last but not least-

(5) The first two bicyclists of the season I saw were actually following the rules of the road!

(6) Read #5 again!

Can't wait till Sunday night... the third season premiere of one of the best shows on television- "Breaking Bad"!

"Rescue Me" is another great one, season premiere coming soon!

Saw a bumper sticker the other day... "If you think health care is expensive now- wait till it's free!"

Now you can join me all week long... afternoons 3 till 7 on the Shark!

It's now mid- March... and if I don't see any snow for the next two winters, that'll be too soon. Keep in mind this comes from an Ohio boy...

What part of "Wipers on, lights on- it's the law" do some of you not understand? When I turn my headlights on and off and point at the front of your vehicle, that doesn't mean there's a cop ahead.  Turn your frickin' lights on!

I've been inundated (in a good way) with multiple references to the "Puttin' on the Ritz" scene from "Young Frankenstein". Check it out on my Shark Personalities page.

Speaking of... join me weekday afternoons for your ride home from 3 till 7pm!

Spring is almost here- but spring training is! GO PHILLIES!

I'm giving up being poor for Lent. Gonna be a tough one... can I do it?

This is my first blog entry since the B.S. (Big Snow) hit the area. Kudos to all the volunteers who help push, shovel, and otherwise help stranded motorists and people unable to function in a normal matter as a result of this once-in-a-lifetime event (I hope!).

Saw a recent story on the mystery surrounding the death of Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones. Interesting.

Recently lost a long time family pet. His name was Shep, and he was a member of our family. Miss ya, ya big galoot!

A few favorite bumper stickers I've come across recently in my travels:

"My dog is smarter than your honor student" and

"Men are idiots- and I married the king!"

I know what Lou Gehrig's Disease is- but who is Arthur Ritis?

Almost any hot food is better with honey barbeque sauce on it!

Nice snippet in Friday's USA Today about the Miss America Pageant... in short, about how it's basically fallen off the radar since leaving Atlantic City and why it should return. Nice job.

Can't wait for the return of "Rescue Me" and "Breaking Bad"... two of the best shows on tv.

Steven Tyler without Aerosmith is like Steve Perry without Journey and Dennis DeYoung without Styx- it's just not the same.

1/9/10- Random Thoughts and Observations

Let me be the first to wish you a Happy... Valentine's Day!

Passed by one of those "romantic motels" the other day... and it struck me as kinda funny that the entrance to one of the "suites" had a wheelchair ramp. Not something you expect to see in that type of situation, but then again- why not? More power to ya...

This recent period of artic blast has re- introduced me to the term "bone- chilling". I've also heard it described as "colder than a witch's (anatomy part)", but I'll have to do more research on that one...

Saw a Biography on John Candy- one of my favorite all- time comedians. What a great story- and what a waste to die so young. I think I'll go watch "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" in his honor. Lovely, lovely.

Clich the link below for one of my favorite Candy movie moments:

Got a good feeling about the Eagles- Cowboys game tonight. Will Romo choke (again) in the post season? Maybe he'll slip and fall where Dave Spadaro spit on the star...

Here's a tip- if you should run out of heating oil, please keep in mind that about 5 gallons of diesel will hold you over for a day or so.

12/12/09- Songs, Thoughts and Misc.

I've recently been listening to one of my personal "mix" cds... and a few songs really stand out these days. So come with me, children, to the land of J Lock- and experience what is in my head these days:

"Cowboy" and "All Summer Long" by Kid Rock

"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day

"No Rain" by Blind Melon

"Rock star" by Nickelback. I would love to play the Billy Gibbons' part in the video (I 'll have the quesedilla")

"Beautiful Day" by U2

"Hard to Handle" by the Black Crowes. Did you know this is a cover of a 1968 Otis Redding song? Cool.

"Hey Jealousy" by the Gin Blossoms

and, finally, "Pink" by Aerosmith ("pink is my favorite crayon").

Speaking of... here's hoping Steven Tyler and the band are together for the 40th anniversary tour in 2010. Would be a damn shame if they didn't. Saw Joe Perry with his band on Letterman last night. Not bad- but not Aerosmith.
