before we even discuss jim and the doors, you may wonder what
makes me qualified to tell a Doors' story each week.
i guess this has to sound like i'm bragging to say this, but....
i've been to paris to jim's grave at pere' la chaise, and past
the flat where jim and pam lived in paris, the place where
jim died in 1971. been to L.A. to venice beach where jim hung-out
for almost 2 years in the mid-60's. been to Morrison hotel,
( it's gone now ) where the band photographed some shots, one
of which was so good, they used it for an album cover and titled the
album after it.
interviewed a local celebrity who knew jim in the 60's at Venice Beach.
( sorry, no name dropping ). have read several morrison/ Doors bio
books, countless magazine and newspaper articles, and now well
into the hundreds of internet articles.
i've also read two writings of jim's poetry books, poetry that he was
critically accaimed for just prior to his passing.
and thats just the stuff i can remember off the top of my head as
I write this. i'm sure there's a bunch that escapes me at present.
hopefully you'll find my Doors stories informative, and not just something
that got cut and pasted off the internet.

DOORS STORY OF THE WEEK
=======================
on the doors album, Waiting For The Sun, Jim wrote a song dedicated to
his girlfriend, the woman he called his wife, Pamela Courson.
they had been together since 1965 when Jim moved to the beach, Venice
Beach, on the northern side of Los Angeles. Jim often said Pamela was the
only woman for him, and was his soul-mate. Jim of course was anything but
a one-woman man, but he always came back to Pamela.
in 1968, Jim and Pam moved to a house in Laurel Canyon in the Hollywood
Hills, 8201 Rothdell Trail. Jim and Pam called the street, Love Street, because
of all the hippies who walked the street.
it was the first real residence Pam and Jim ever shared other than
the seedy apartments and motel rooms they shared. their two years there
were as close to a normal life either would ever have.
there was a store at the end of the block, where all the locals stopped
and bought their daily items. jim commented about the store in the song,
calling it the place " where the creatures meet ".
as with all of Jim's songs with Pam, he can't commit totally to her. in the final line,
of the song, Jim as always expresses some doubt. " I guess i like it fine, so far " .
whether you know the song or not, enjoy it.
this sunday, catch me right after the game,
gonna rock the blocks til 10pm.
